HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.
And welcome to 2010 – a year when the world’s attention will once again be focussed on South Africa, 20 years after the momentous day when Nelson Mandela walked free from prison. Possibly not quite as significant, but in a smaller, more local way, still noteworthy – 2010 also denotes Marketing Impact celebrating its twentieth year in business. Our ‘Platinum’ anniversary according to our American chums, which admittedly does sound a sight more flashy than the more traditional ‘China’ anniversary.
Social networking has clearly reached a tipping point. Sites like Facebook boast over 350 million active users. Platforms like YouTube and Twitter can transform reputations in addition to providing entertainment.
Social networking is often dismissed as a time-wasting distraction. But on the other hand, it can help facilitate an open-ended culture that values transparency, collaboration and innovation.
We recently created our first micro-site Annual Report, for Radian Group. Based on the Mondrian style and using elements of Radian’s new look and feel, wherepeopleflourish.net is a vibrant communications tool for Radian to talk about their achievements and share employee good news in 2008/09.
After a recent intensive audit of all our business activities, we’re thrilled to have been awarded the PRCA Consultancy Management Standard (CMS). The internationally recognised CMS is the industry’s quality certification system for public relations firms, and only 140 of the UK’s 2,000+ PR consultancies have passed the rigorous independent audit required.
