PC or Mac which one are you?
It’s become a bit of a thorny issue here at MI. We each have our machine of choice, the Studio all use Macs, the system of choice for creatives and designers. By and large the Suits use PCs – out of preference or simply habit, well you’d have to ask them.
Generally our clients are PC users so interaction with them is made simpler if both client and agency are using the same platform, but even that creates problems with so many different Windows operating systems and versions of Microsoft’s Office programs. And now there’s software like Parallels Desktop with allows you to run a full Windows OS on your Mac so everyone is catered for.
On a daily basis Macs are more intuitive, they work straight out of the box and the operating system is easier to work with for any maintenance or repairs should they be required, which is rare. And they don’t suffer from viruses in the same way that PCs do. Although there is a price premium for a Mac we have very much less on-going issues eg crashes, networking issues and the like which makes the lifetime cost less.
Aesthetically, there’s no argument. Macs are much better looking than PCs, they are undeniably the machine of choice on tv and the movies. So that’s it settled, Macs are better. Well not quite. Where there’s choice, there will always be debate. So, PC or Mac which one are you?
